The Glenrothes bourbon cask reserve was previously known as the Alba Reserve. Matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks the whisky has a beautiful light golden colour. This bottle comes from a beautiful range of whisky's from the same distillery. And has an extra touch that every whisky from the Glenrothes gets. Namely, the trademark of the Glenrothes distillery. Almost all the casks of Glenrothers often contained Cherry before the other liquids matured in these barrels. This is also the case with these bourbon casks of this whisky. As always at the Glenrothes whisky is presented in a nice display packaging and the bottle has the round shape we are used to.
Nose
At first this whisky does not have a very varied smell. A slightly salty coconut smell with a hint of vanilla and even a hint of cinnamon.

Taste
Although the scent of the whisky does not vary very much, it makes up for it in taste. First you taste the coconut with a hint of vanilla which passes over a slightly salty medium aftertaste.

Verdict
The Glenrothes Bourbon Cask Reserve is a pleasant surprise for me. Although the smell doesn't suggest it, the taste is all the better. A delicious soft sweet coconut makes the Glenrothes Bourbon Cask Reserve a fine dram for a rainy autumn day. In short, a good addition for every whisky enthusiast.
