Personally, I had not heard of this distillery before, but the Royal Brackla 16 was certainly a welcome addition to my collection. This batch of Royal Brackla 16 comes from a series of first-fill oloroso sherry casks. The Royal Brackla is the first distillery that can officially call itself \"Royal\". And Royal it is. With its dark blue case and beautiful golden seal, the appearance of this whisky feels like a king's whisky. The bottle itself is a little more modest, but still has a classic look. Upon opening the bottle, a slightly spicy and fruity aroma enters your nose with a mix of ginger and cinnamon. The taste of the whisky is soft but very rich with many subtle undertones of honey, black berries with spicy hints of ginger and cinnamon. In the finish, the fruity taste lingers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nose<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A subtle aroma meets you when you open this bottle. There are many layers to it. And even though the fruity and spicy scent dominates. You will soon pick up other deep somewhat medicinal scents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Taste<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Soft and deeply layered. The flavours roll quickly from one to the other. With a spicy start and a fruity finish that lingers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Verdict<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Royal Brackla 16 is a refined whisky and is perhaps not quite suitable for the novice whisky drinker. Especially considering the price. If you can still get hold of this whisky at all, as far as I know it is sold out almost everywhere and the price will only increase due to its rarity. All in all, if you do manage to get hold of the Royal Brackla 16, it is certainly worth adding to your collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      DISTILLERY<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Royal Brackla is also known as \"The King's Own Whisky\" because in 1835 it was the first Scotch whisky to receive a royal mandate. This seal was granted by King William IV. The distillery has a history of ups and downs and has had many owners. Since 1998 the distillery has belonged to one of the world's biggest spirits companies, Bacardi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
